Stranded Knitting - Beginner

Wednesdays, February 5, 12, 19
Three 2-hr sessions
7 – 9 pm
$45 plus tax and materials

Compass , by Tin Can Knits, is a classic yet modern
stranded 2-colour yoke sweater, knit seamlessly from the top down, using a sport, heavy fingering or
even a light DK yarn. The pattern sizing is provided all the way from newborn to 4XL, so you can choose
to knit for either a wee one or an adult.
In the class, you will learn and practise the stranded knitting technique: how to knit and carry 2 colours
in the same row, holding the yarn in both hands (i.e. both “English” and “continental”), as well as how to
read colourwork charts and as a bonus, a really useful technique for avoiding visual “jogs” in colourwork
that is knit in the round.

learning and reviewing stranded knitting techniques (knitting with and carrying two yarns in the same
row) and reading colourwork charts, as well as learning how to work an i-cord cast and mitten shaping.

Cloisonée mitts

These fun and colourful mitts, by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (a.k.a. “Yarn Harlot”), would make a great “My First Mitts” project. We have a wide array of mini skeins available that will give lots of scope for playing with colour, while keeping this an affordable pair of mitts.
