Stranded Knitting

Fridays Feb 1 and  Feb 8
Two 2 hr sessions
7 pm – 9 pm
$45 plus tax and materials

Do you love the look of knitting simultaneously with two colours (stranded or fair isle knitting), but have hesitated to start a project because of not knowing how it works or how to manage two yarns at the same time? This is your chance to explore and get comfortable with stranded knitting!

We will be using the Leftovers Cowl by Wendy D. Johnson  (either cowl or scarf) to learn stranded knitting.

In no time, you’ll be whizzing along! The cowl version begins with a provisional cast-on and is knit in the round so that you can graft the beginning stitches to the end to make a tube. You can also make the scarf version, also knit as a tube, but with each end bound off separately.

This is a perfect project to use up small amounts of leftover fingering weight yarn, but we also have lots of mini skeins available, perfect for playing with colour! We recommend choosing a full skein (or two) to use as a base, and then adding as many other colours as you like with mini skeins.

Top Down Cardigan for Every Skill Level - Floozy Cardigan

Wednesdays Feb 6, Feb 13, Feb 27, March 6

Four 2 hr sessions  7 pm – 9 pm

Floozy  by Libby Jonson is a lovely and versatile cardigan. slightly retro and thoroughly modern all at once.  Knitted seamlessly from the top down (perfect for trying on as you go) in a fingering weight yarn, Floozy uses slipped stitches to create a beautifully colourful yoke. It looks way more complicated than it is – you’ll just work one colour per row! No complicated colourwork, just simple, easy knitting that’s suitable for every level of knitter.

A wide range of sizes and options for different body and sleeve lengths makes Floozy a great cardigan for everyone. Choose a size that gives you room to move, or a closer fit that hugs your shape.

This class will give you an opportunity to pick up lots of great sweater-knitting tips and techniques, all while enjoying a great knit-a-long.
